Sheffield Hallam University Students Placements

We have an excellent working relationship with Sheffield Hallam University and each year provide work experience placements for a cohort of food and nutrition students. Many students go into schools for ‘hands-on’ experience which provides a free resource and additional support to schools as part of their Eat Smart Sheffield journey.

Activities in previous years have included baking sessions (eg. learning how to bake delicious healthy flapjack), growing activities (eg. a whole school runner bean competition), improving the dining room (eg. designing colourful posters to put up on display), and healthy food lesson / homework tasks (eg. designing a healthy packed lunch).

‘The students were fantastic! We were so pleased to be part of this’

‘I really enjoyed my placement and learnt a lot. I’d still like to volunteer with Eat Smart Sheffield in the future if possible’
