Awards
We work very closely with Food for Life (FFL) and encourage schools to work towards the FFL School Award.
This is a great way to demonstrate that a school is doing fantastic work to provide healthy school meals, great lunchtimes and food education that has a positive impact on both pupils and the wider community.
The Award Scheme supports a school to:
- Improve health, wellbeing and motivation of pupils and staff.
- Encourage pupils to take part in enrichment activities.
- Enable children to feel empowered to make their own choices to improve wellbeing.
- Connect with parents and your local community.
Toolkits
We have 6 Eat Smart Sheffield Toolkits, each one focussing on a different school food-related theme:
- School Meals
- Food Education
- Healthy Packed Lunches
- Healthy Drinks
- Wrap-Around Care
- Beyond the School Gates
Small Grants
All schools in Sheffield have the opportunity to apply for funding to support their food-related activities via our Small Grant Scheme.
Training
We offer a range of training courses, workshops, webinars and learning sessions for both school staff and parents/carers.
More information about these can be found in the Training & Events section.
Resources
We offer a vast array of resources including recipes, growing activities, assembly plans, homework tasks, pupil/parent surveys, policy documents and guidance and these can be found in our dedicated Resource Hub.
Student Placements
Each year we provide work experience placements for a cohort of food and nutrition students from Sheffield Hallam University. Both schools and students benefit from this collaboration.
